To use the modern methods of communication to make
our efforts of human development much more effective we have constituted
a wing for communication and outreach - Vishwa Jyoti Communications
It is a center for media art and culture committed
to promotion of human rights, primary education, communal harmony,
community building, development etc. through low-cost media.
Prerana Kala Manch (PKM), the theatrical wing
of VJC has performed so far 25 dramas in more than 2000 places on
various themes on literacy, primary education, adult education,
community health, communal harmony etc. its campaign against alcoholism,
corruption, superstitions, caste-class divisions, child labour,
bonded labour, women's exploitation etc. have been very effective
in bringing social transformation in various parts of North India.
Approximately mort than 8 lakh rural and urban people have participated
in the campaign in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab,
Delhi, Assam, Meghalaya and Jammu and Kashmir. Special stress was
given on the education of girl students and street children. The
performance of street plays are always followed by a dialogue with
the people and the positive response from the people is very encouraging.
Documentaries and short features for the promotion
of culture, inter religious harmony, human values are regularly
being produced in Super VHS format with the humble and simple infra-structure
Becoming fully aware of the power of media to
build and also to destroy, a compact course package has been developed
to understand, analyze and also to use the media skills. The course
is ideal for 36 hours.
Social awakening songs and dramas on literacy,
people's organization and on other issues as well as religious songs
for building up human communities and global peace are produced
and distributed. These productions are mostly in Hindi and Bhojpuri.
Art is the mirror of life. An artistic play on
the society is capable of manifesting to the students the power,
the evil and everything of the society. It is more powerful than
many more lectures in inculcating values on students as they see
facts live before them. PKM has conducted such value education in
the cities of Varanasi, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Agra, Nainital,
Hathras, Shahjahanpur, Patna, Guwahati, Shillong, Delhi, Ambala,
Karnal, Shimla, Jammu, Mumbai etc. And many more smaller towns and
villages. Through the discussion which follows the play, the students
are encouraged to make an action plan individually and as a group.
The response has been very good.
